Preventative Dentistry

Routine Exams

To best maintain a healthy smile, we recommend scheduling routine cleanings and exams every six months. This allows us to detect any developing problems as soon as possible, so we can treat them before they become larger issues. However, some patients may require more frequent cleanings, so we will help you create a customized exam schedule. During your exam, we will clean and polish the teeth, as well as evaluate your smile for any signs of developing cavities that may lead to gum disease. We also screen our patients for symptoms of oral cancer, because this type of cancer is most curable when treated early on.

Periodontal Care

Periodontal care refers to treatment of the surrounding tooth structures, including the gums, which can become infected or inflamed when not taken care of properly. If gum disease isn’t treated early on, it can lead to periodontitis and tooth loss. To prevent this, we perform several services, including scaling and root planing, removing infected gum tissue, and replacing lost bone and tissue. The worst cases may require surgery. We will provide you with the care you need for healthy gums.

Dr. Hollifield specializes in a range of dental services, including wisdom teeth removal and other oral surgery services. He also offers bite guards for individuals who grind their teeth, and snoring appliances, as well as custom mouth guards for athletes.

Porcelain Veneers

Disguise your smile’s imperfections with porcelain veneers! Veneers are very thin, yet very strong coverings that we custom color and shape in our laboratory to meet your smile’s unique needs. Veneers are an ideal option for covering up chips, gaps, cracks, and discoloration in the smile and can also be used to elongate or change the shape of teeth. They are permanent, resistant to staining, and give your smile a dramatically more beautiful appearance.

Invisalign

Many patients, especially adult patients, avoid orthodontic care because they don’t want to wear noticeable metal braces. Invisalign gives you the straighter smile you want, using virtually invisible aligners so no one will know you are wearing them! We provide you with sets of aligners customized to gradually move your teeth into the correct position. You wear each set for two weeks before moving on to the next. You can remove the aligners for eating and brushing your teeth. At the end of the process, you will have a more functional bite and a more beautiful smile!

Dental Implants

Missing teeth not only affects the appearance of your smile, but it can also make it more difficult to speak and chew, cause your remaining teeth to shift, and can increase your risk of decay and gum disease. Dental implants are a permanent tooth-replacement option that restores your smile’s health, function and appearance. The implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed into the gums, to then adhere to the jawbone over a period of a few months. Once the implant is secure, we will restore the implant with a crown, or if we are replacing multiple teeth, we will use a bridge or a denture. At this point, your smile will look as good as new!

Root Canals

When a cavity or trauma causes inflammation deep within the tooth, affecting the pulp, Dr. Hollifield will perform a root canal. During a root canal, we remove the infected pulp and disinfect the inside of the tooth to eliminate remaining bacteria. Then, the tooth is restored with a crown to improve its appearance and strength. Most root canals require one to three visits.

Crowns & Bridges

A crown – commonly referred to as a “cap” – is a restorative solution that we offer for cases where a large cavity is present, a tooth has undergone root canal therapy, or to restore dental implants. Similarly, a bridge is a dental device utilized to replace one or multiple missing teeth using false teeth. Our team offers both fixed and removable bridges and takes a personalized approach, carefully evaluating your smile’s unique needs to determine which option is most suitable for you.
